4 day ride
Explore Essaouira's backcountry and quiet beaches on horseback
Join us on a 4-day horse riding trek through the Moroccan countryside. Starting from our stable in Diabat, we'll ride through the argan forest, passing small villages and local shepherds. At our first camp, we'll unsaddle our horses and enjoy tea by the campfire, followed by a homemade Moroccan tajine.
On day two, after breakfast, we'll ride through remote areas to a small canyon. A picnic will fuel us for the rest of the ride to Sidi Ahmed Essayeh, where we'll stay with a local family and watch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean.
Day three takes us along the Atlantic coast to Sidi Kaouki. You'll have the chance to explore long stretches of beach before camping or staying in a guesthouse.
On our final day, we'll make our way back to the stable, riding along the Atlantic beaches and dunes.
Day 1
Meet your guide and horse in Diabat, near Essaouira, for a brief introduction before setting off on a horse riding trek through the argan forest. As you ride, you'll pass villages and encounter flocks of sheep and goats along the way. Take a break and enjoy a picnic under argan trees. At our first campsite, gather around the campfire to relax, sip on Moroccan tea, and enjoy a homemade tajine. Rest in our tents, surrounded by the countryside.
Day 2
After breakfast, we'll prepare our horses for another day of horse riding. We'll ride through remote areas to a small canyon. A picnic will fuel us for the rest of the ride to Sidi Ahmed Essayeh, where we'll stay with a local family and watch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. As the day comes to an end, enjoy the quiet of the countryside and the colors of the sunset over the ocean.
Day 3
Day three takes us along the Atlantic coast to Sidi Kaouki. We ride along beaches and cliffs on our way to Sidi M'Barek, where a small waterfall and sand dunes await, with plenty of room for gallops. We pause for a picnic near the sea. In the afternoon, we continue our ride towards Sidi Kaouki, our final camp on this horse riding trek.
Day 4
Rise and shine! After breakfast, we prepare our horses for the ride back to the stable in Diabat. Along the coast and through the dunes, with views of the sea, we take in the scenery one last time. As we gallop along the beach, there's a sense of freedom. After the final ride of this horse riding trek, we return to the stable for a cup of fresh mint tea.
Why Ride with us?
When you ride with us, you'll always have your own private group — whether you come with family or friends. There won't be any other guests joining, so you can relax and enjoy your horse riding experience at your own pace.
Horses & Riding
Our horses are well cared for Arab-Barb stallions, known for their agility, endurance, and responsiveness. They are in good condition, for a smooth ride. Each horse is equipped with a well-fitted saddle, so you'll be riding comfortably. Our horses are well-trained and ready for horse riding along the Atlantic coast.
Rider requirements
This horse riding trip is best suited for riders who are able to walk, trot, and canter. We typically ride for about 4 hours per day, so it's recommended that riders have a good level of riding fitness. If you are an inexperienced rider, please get in touch with us so we can assess your abilities and determine if this ride is suitable for you.
Weight limit
Our horses are Arab-Berber crossbreeds, standing between 145–160cm (57–63in). They are well-muscled, sure-footed, and built for the terrain — but they are not large horses.
We have a weight limit of 85kg / 187lbs for all rides. This is a firm limit, not a guideline. It exists because we take horse welfare seriously, and we'd rather be upfront than have anyone travel all the way to Morocco only to be turned away at the stable.
If you're close to the limit or have questions, just ask — we're happy to talk it through before you book.
Accommodation
You have the option to choose between nights in a traditional camp close to the ocean or staying in a guesthouse.
If you choose the traditional camp, you'll spend the nights in a spacious Berber tent with plenty of room, equipped with mattresses, covers, and pillows. Our chef prepares dinner for you to enjoy under the stars, with the sound of the Atlantic waves nearby. A single tent is available on request for an additional fee.
Please note, that the Camp must be booked at least one month before the start of the ride to allow sufficient time to obtain the required camping permit from the authorities.
Alternatively, if you prefer more privacy, you can opt for the guesthouse. A single room is available on request for an additional fee.
Please note that the second night is spent in simple accommodation run by a local family; we cannot offer single rooms at this accommodation.
The choice is yours — both options offer a comfortable stay after a day of horse riding.
Food and beverages
Good food is part of the horse riding experience with us. Our chef prepares fresh, traditional dinners and breakfasts for you. For lunch, we pack a picnic that you can enjoy in a beautiful spot along the road. We also provide tea, nuts, and pastries for tea time.
Dietary requirements are important to us, so please let us know in advance if you have any specific needs or if you're vegetarian.
